Description
A creamy, cheesy pierogi casserole loaded with smoked kielbasa sausage for an easy, comforting dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 (16-ounce) package frozen pierogi (potato and cheese recommended)
- 1 pound kielbasa sausage, sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 cup heavy cream or whole milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish to prevent sticking.
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook for about 5 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, add chopped onion and garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant (about 3 minutes).
Reduce heat to low. Stir in heavy cream, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, black pepper, smoked paprika, and salt. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.
Place the frozen pierogi in the prepared baking dish. Top with the cooked kielbasa, then pour the cheese sauce evenly over everything.
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
Sprinkle fresh parsley on top and serve hot!
